Hi, am relative new to reptiles keeping, however, before the arrival of my Red Foots, I have done some reading and just like my 2 yrs old bearded, D3 is vital.

Have an Arcadia Luminaire (2ft) and decided to purchase the Arcadia Desert D3 12 T8. To my disappointment, the reading on my Solarmeter was near 0 (close proximity - almost touching the cover!)

On the other hand, I have Reptisun 15W on my bearded, I am able to get about 100+ at about 10-12" away from the lamp. Wonder anyone has any issues or thoughts on this. Thank you.

What do you mean when you say touching the cover? UVB does not penetrate any covers. Tube needs to be exposed bare.

Otherwise if the fixture is functioning properly it may be a faulty tube.

Solarmeter reads as 14 about 45 cm from the lamp. The tank has a galvanized mesh, not ideal as look for alternatives so as to have it (mesh) replaced soon. WIthout the mesh, I could get 40 from the same height and about 140 about 10 cm from the lamp.

By the way, realised the tube socket from the Arcadia cracked, probably the usual wear. and tear of any plastic wares especially it has been kept for quite some time. Any advise on the ease of having them replaced? Shall take some pic later
