Oh, I wanted Shelly to like this so bad, but he absolutely won’t budge after three days of trying it out. Stubborn little thing - he’ll try to eat everything in sight including my fingers but won’t touch this stuff!

No tortoise will eat new and unfamiliar foods when they first seen them. It takes weeks or months of introduction to get them eating the new stuff.

Start by using a tiny little amount of the new stuff, soak it, and then mix it all up with the chopped greens. There should be hardly any at all. Almost like you put a pinch of pepper on some food, and mixed it all in. Just a few flecks of the new stuff here and there. Over time, weeks or months, add more and more of the new stuff. Don't give up.

Thanks Tom! I’ll give it a try.

Zola was very suspicious at first, but a tiny bit on a hand-fed slice of cucumber did the trick, and he is now eating a little bit in a separate pile to his usual mixed greens every time I top it up. It only took a few days!

I sprinkled a tiny bit of it over the top of his fresh greens today and he ate some of it by himself! Then I tried to feed him some lettuce with a bigger a pile of the rehydrated food on and he physically gagged. lol

Which is why I said to increase the amount very gradually over a period of weeks or months...
