Glades Herps are mostly importers. Lots of WC stuff occupies their facilities and from what I hear, their quarantine practices are not the best. Customer service is okay, quality depends on what you're getting. I personally wouldn't deal with them.

Never heard of the other one. There's some good breeders on this site!

Usually, any place that sells ALL reptiles and not just turtles and tortoises is a broker, not an actual breeder.

I know there is one member on this site that has some hatchling redfoots right now. Not sure if he plans on selling any, but you could post a wanted thread for a redfoot hatchling and I'm sure you'll find something.

Tortoise supply ships all over the country at a pretty decent rate. I got my baby Hermann's from them and if I remember correctly, shipping was only like $35 and Carl arrived very well packaged, safe and sound. A very healthy, well cared for fellow as well.

Your shipping may be a bit more since Ohio is a little further than me, but Nebraska is also pretty dang far away from Las Vegas.

Second for Tortoisesupply. That's where Darwin came from and his shipping is a flat $35 to anywhere in the lower 48.

If you don't mind getting one from a private owner looking to rehome, there are usually quite a few in the craigslist for Chicago Illinois and the Grand Rapids or Flint Michigan areas. I don't know if they would ship, but they meet you part way.
Good luck with your search. Just remember, there might be some on fauna classifieds too.

From the thread provided above, you know I agree with Jacqui on this: Allegra has incredible cherryheads and outstanding customer service! She rocks!

N2Torts has some real lookers too! He may have some leftover from this year, you'd have to shoot him a private message to find out.

Jackrat has some excellent northerns:

Vicki Hale also has great reviews and nice looking torts:

I agree with Laura, try to keep price from swaying you too much. Having said that, we're all on a budget, so it's realistic that you are thinking this way. If it takes 2-3 weeks longer to afford a tortoise from a reputable breeder, I say wait the extra time period. Sure, you may get a wild caught tort for a bit less, but the vet bills to check their feces for parasites will quickly compensate for the lower initial price. In my opinion, you won't be saving much money by going cheaper than any of the breeders prices on this forum (including Tortoise Supply i.e. Tyler Stewart as Student of the Reptile said).

Per usual, there are other excellent breeders on here that I have failed to mention, please don't take it personally anyone!!! Others I have left out because I don't know what their plans are for their hatchlings...

Considering how he's concerned with prices, I'm assuming he doesn't want a cherryhead because they're more expensive :)

Glades Herp Farm

I have purchased several torotises from them many years ago without issue, however many complain about them regarding financial issues and doing bad business. Check BOI!

I would for sure work with one of our memebr breeders, most seem ethical and top notch with there breeding programs.
