I've been working on my plans for my next table (and the one after that).
I'm trying to figure out how best to heat their hide.
My plan is to use a a raised piece of glass with a under tank heater stuck to the bottom. Creating a "hot plate" of sorts. Then using a plastic tote filled with sphagnum moss on top of that.
Seems like I have read somewhere young torts have trouble thermoregulating with heat from underneath.
I would control it with a thermostat to keep it 80-85. Does this sound like a problem to anyone?

I believe as you have described....you should be fine. Would really really make sure that you can regulate the max temp of the heating element though :D:D

My mom has been using a under the tank heat pad for years- she has had the same one for several years. I have never used one but the one she has is great

Yeah I l plan to use a dimmer to achieve a consistent temp. With a thermostat as a backup to shut it off if it gets too hot.
