I've heard that Ambos are pretty small, so my question is what is the smallest species or subspecies of Asian box turtle?

Don't know why you have not had a response to this but I guess you could find that information on the internet.

I don't really know all that much about this turtle, but I THINK they're all pretty much the same size. I don't think they get much bigger than a Russian tortoise.

There are four subspecies recognized for Cuora ambionensis. Not a real size difference in the subspecies but shell shape and coloration variations. Most get larger than our US box turtles, growing up to about 8". 6"-7" is a very common range for adults. The one we tend to see the most is C.a. lineata
