I am trying to help someone improve their Star Tortoise care. The Stars are currently kept in a turtle table with apsen bedding.

How does the owner go about changing to a more humid environment? Should it be a slow conversion to a higher humidity arrangement? Also, the move from a table to a more closed terratium, how quickly should this conversion be.

Thanks.

Hello!
Tortoises don't like changes and people disturbing their established habitat. So the right course of action would be to prepare the new enclosure, set and test everything and then move tortoises there (if there are only two tortoises - each needs its own enclosure).

In the new enclosure you can set humidity and ambient temperature a bit higher than their current environment and gradually increase parameters over the course of two weeks. Both temperature and humidity should be rised in parallel (too humid and cold or too hot and dry are both undesirable combinations).

@Tom actually has experience with Stars. He should be able to recommend.
Can you give more info. How old are they? How big are they? How many are there?

If you could answer those questions above folks can get all the answers you need to you, be sure they aren’t housed as a pair, they need to be in their own closed chamber set ups🐢💚

Send the owner these two threads:

It is clear that they were given the wrong care info, so this info should help get them on track. Once the new enclosures are set up and ready, they can be moved over.
