Hello,

I want to introduce Atlas to the forum. He’s a Leopard Tortoise. I’m looking forward to learning a lot here and making new friends in the tortoise world!

Here’s a few pics of him.

Thanks.. right now I have him setup in a mixing tub.. but I’ll be transferring him to a closed chamber in about a week.
The tub is fine to use. Just rig a cover onto it. Building some sort of frame to hang plastic over so lights and heat stay inside the enclosure.

I was thinking about using a mini greenhouse and place the tub & lights inside. Sorta like this one.

That would work pretty well. I’ve been thinking about trying something like that for other animals, so be sure to share your results if you do it!

I used one of those. They do work good. Only thing, the lower the ceiling the easier it is too keep the heat and humidity at tort level.
In my tort shed, I have a ceiling fan going all winter long. If I don't, it's a lot colder at tort level even though my thermostat is at tort level. The heat keeps going but not heating tort level without the fan. Keep in mind though the shed is over 6 feet high ceiling.

I also have a small humidifier that I’ll put in there also. That little thing pumps out some serious humidity! I’ll keep the lights close the tort level.
