I suppose you can, is he sick? Usually the baby food is put in the soaking water so if he drinks it he is getting some nutrients.

Commercial baby food is often loaded with sugars, preservatives, etc. The act of pureeing food also destroys the cell walls, messing up the fiber content.

Having a couple jars of a good, organic-ish food on hand for an emergency is useful, but as a regular food, it is best for enticing reluctant eaters or hiding medicines.

Several years ago I hatched out 3 yellowfoot babies and I had a heck of a time getting them started eating. Finally I had a brain storm and bought some strained fruit baby food. I chopped up the veggies in the normal way, then I dribbled fruit baby food over the top. THEY ATE!!
