So I Want a BOY, but every tort I get is a girl (my first sulcata has a split scute) (the leo I won has a split scute) (my new adopted rescue maybe a girl). I Just want 1 boy, but with my luck I don't know if that will happen.:(

Like with kids starting saying you don't want any boys, you should soon have one.

hahahaha good idea... i will post pics of my new torts boy or girl and see what you guys think I may have get lucky with my newest

O gosh no I already love him or her..... I would never do that... take it home then o well it's not the right sex too bad.. not fair to the tort....

Split scutes can still be males. ;)

from what I understand like under 8% of tortoises with split suctes are male? But maybe I'll get lucky.. I'll know in like 4 years lol

Wow! I didn't know that about split scutes. Now the next time I want a girl I will have to look for a baby with a split. Other than a good sex indicator do split scutes have any other abnormalities associated with them? Deanna :rolleyes:

Sometimes the split scutes grow a little "funny". Other times they grow flat and normal.

so far mine have grown good... I like it they are soo cute.. but arn't all torts?
