Does anyone's sulcata like the bath? Shorty spends the whole time trying to escape.
After 10 or 15 min they start trying to get out. I think it's cause water gets cold. I put new fresh warm water and they stay completely still again.

Hey how i upload video on here? Is the only way to upload to YouTube then share link ? I got a lot of cool video I wanna share.

They are so cute. Shorty don't chill no matter the water temp. I have no clue how to upload a video. Sorry.

HEY EVERYBODY SAFETY QUESTION???

Ok i try and bathe them daily, sometimes I might miss a day. But they never go more than 2 days without a bath.

My question is, as I would bathe them, I would mist them down sorda strong to clean shell and wet head.

I recently read couple weeks ago that tortoise breathe with their arms/limbs and neck. They manually pump air in. I read they don't have a gag reflex which in turn doesn't let them cough.

It said that's why tortoises can easily get respiratory infections like water in the lungs. They can't cough it out.

Ever since I read that I don't really spray head. I give it super gentle mist. Scared of water rolling down face and going into nostrils.

Also even if I don't wet head, it still ends up all wet, it's almost like his skin absorbs water and at same time releases it. example... if I wet their feet, water starts coming out their neck. Weird huh? Anyone else notice this.?

My question is can I hurt them by spraying them from top?

I wouldn't worry about misting them and water getting in their nostrils, they get rained on pretty hard constantly in the wild I would imagine.

That's a good question.. I noticed that shorty will put his head in the water then makes a weird sound when he comes back up.

He always drinks during his bath and sometimes from his bowl in his table but that's rare. I would love to see shorty yawn.

Really I've had my sullys going on 3 months, only seen them drink twice. I wash all their food before chopping so I know they get plenty of water from that. I see them yawn almost everyday. Just haven't got on video

HEY EVERYBODY SAFETY QUESTION???

I can tell you with 100% certainty that spraying a tortoise with water from any direction is not a problem. I use the little mini Hudson sprayer types and the little squeeze lever hand pump ones on them literally the day they hatch to rinse the incubation media off of them, and I spray them several times a day after that. The adults get the hose and/or the sprinklers on hot days.

I found the video guys, it's 40 min so just watch on your free time or before bed. I've searched YouTube for hours for a video like this and couldn't find any. If you know of other videos like this, please share. All I wanted to see is tortoises in the wild, but that video is hard to find, but I found this video. These guys spend like 6 weeks studying tortoises in the wild all over southern n western Africa. Nice video, many species, enjoy...

Tom, I was wondering at what age or size do you stop with the bathes?

Thanks Tom, that's exactly what I need. Already went thru 2 spray bottles. One shoots straight up in the sky, other shoots left to right like a sprinkler system[emoji23]
