hi,

Just wondering, I have a male Greek tortoise who I think is around 2. at night he seems to prefer to sleep in a corner of his enclosure on the slate rather then in the hide that I've provided? He also has a large log "tunnel" for him to go through to one side of the enclosure or the other if he wants to but seems to not like to go through this, he's also never burrowed even tho he is now in top soil.

When I got him he was in a tiny tiny vivarium on some sort of bark and had a heat mat which the vivarium sat on, this was turned on at night only (the day after my picking him up he was in a open top rabbit cage with a heat light) My question is do you think possibly where he is so used to having heat on at night time he sleeps on the slate as this holds the heat well (The basking light isn't on a nighttime). He also never had anything for him to hide under before either?

I've had him for nearly three weeks now and I keep adding bits to the enclosure and I've changed it around as well, to try and make it better for him, so he is still settling in.

Thank you

My adult redfoot moves his hide box into a corner to sleep if it is not already there. I've started just putting the box in the corner and he pushes himself into the deeper furthest corner that he can. If his box gets tipped or isn't available he always finds a corner. I think it makes him feel more secure.
