Best substrate for Russian tortoise

Hello! I was wondering if any of these two substrates would be okay for a Russian tortoise!

You need to read the ingredients list on the back to see what it is made of. You want fine grade fir bark only.

The best substrate for a baby Russian is hand packed damp coco coir. The best substrate for adults is fine grade orchid bark.

Where in CA are you? If you are anywhere near Santa Clarita, come get this stuff:


It is at "Green Landscape Nursery". Don't confuse the name with Green Thumb Nursery when you put it in your GPS. This stuff is only $12 a bag for 2.0 cu. ft. I've been using it for more than a decade now for all my tortoises of all species from hatchling to adult.
