I have a Russian tortoise bleeding from the butthole to the end of the tail due to it being split open from a fall. Not bleeding too bad and he did have a bowel movement afterwards. He's keeping it pretty tucked and normally doesn't. Not sure what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions?View attachment 182296
Hi this just happened to me today im Very stressed out this is my first tortoise and i don’t know what I should do I rinsed his tail under water then applied more pressure and cut a band aid up into strips and applied it on his tail to hold it together I’ve kept him warm and let him rest but I’d love to know what you did to heal your tortoise (I also have a Russian tortoise if that helps he’s a male)

Could you send a photo of the cloaca?

The tail is coming apart? Is the blood coming from a wound on the tail, or is it coming out of the cloaca? Does this tortoise live alone?

Yes I have it wrappes right now tho so he doesn’t keep splitting it more would it be fine to show you when I change his bandages again?
I’ve been trying to keep it wrapped I’m not sure how to clean it I’ve seen people say water and some say no water and stuff about antibiotics

No it’s not coming apart it’s a split in the middle and it stops right about where they poop and pee at

I would not put a bandage on it unless it's a liquid Bandage cause if your bandage falls off the tortoise might eat it and have more problems!

How does the tortoise pass waste if the area is all bandaged up?

I've never seen an injury like that. Does this tortoise live alone? Does he try to breed inanimate objects in the enclosure, like a rock or something? Does this tortoise free roam on the floor?
