This morning Tonto the ridiculously active Hermann's yearling decided to dig up the entire (fully buried) rootball of his table heather that I use to give him shade from the heatlamp - and promptly got stuck up the side of the table in the process.

Once i'd got him out, I noticed that one of his head scales had turned a bright duck egg blue. On closer inspection it looks a little sunken, like maybe he'd got injured on the heather and it's taken a scale off - does this sound possible or has he just shed? He's very tiny so it's not very noticeable but i wanted to make sure of what it was in case it was some kind of disease or mold!

(If it has taken a scale off, will it grow back?!)

Yes I agree with JoesMum. This looks like a lifted scale. It will grow back for sure. As a likely unnecessary precaution you may make sure it is clean and dry then put a dab of raw local honey on it.
