Hello all,
I have a few questions about head scales. The pic is Sheldon, our 2 oz. Cherryhead.
Will his head change over time to have scales like his legs ? There are small scales
around his eyes. Also is the cherryhead bulbous nose.. Is that upside V shape scale
where his nose is ? I see so many redfoots online and the have scales that are
round/ovalish. Just wondering if that comes with maturity. ~ Thanks

The scales in his head will spread as he grows and his head gets bigger. That is a lovely head that shows promise to be a striking adult.

Thank you for your replies. So, he just looks like that now cuz he's young. It wil be cool to watch and see how the scales progress.
When I saw Sheldon at the reptile store, he was
doing his best strutting around, while the other torts were huddled in the corner.
Thanks for your compliments, it would be neat to
take progress pics say every 3-6 months to see
changes.

Here is Rafiki when I first got him/her (3 months?)

Here is Rafiki presently (~3 years old)

Things change over time but, like the others have said, you have a beautiful tortoise there that will have nice head coloration as an adult.
