So it's that time of year again, where I spend thirty min brushing my lab mix, and a week brushing my chow mix Naomi.
I'm lucky Naomi enjoys her brushing, otherwise this process would SUCK.

I thought I would share the humor of my girl with you guys. She has a patch I brushed for thirty min and STILL wasn't done getting hair.

I wanna have a little humor and make her checker patched, what do ya think? XD

here's my girl, you can very plainly see where she was brushed. I find it hilarious XD

I use a furminator on my dog every week. Miracle worker.

I wish I had the money for one XD It was suggested today actually XD I'll have to look into it when I have money.

I do enjoy our brushing sessions, it's good cuddle time, she just lays down and lets me brush her to my hearts content. It's a sort of therapy for me.

I got mine for super cheap ($16) for a small one. It really does take out a lot of loose hair. PetSmart usually has them on sale. If you buy a smaller one, they are cheaper, you just may have to brush more since it doesn't cover as much area but it will still be easier then a regular brush.

I've kinda given up on brushing my german shepard more than once a year. He doesn't like it, and it quickly devolves into a wrestling match that I lose. Luckily he's strictly outside.

My girls have been outside since hey were old enough. My mother grew up with small dogs so mine aren't small enough to be in the house. I'm lucky Naomi loves being brushed, she is the most difficult one.

Thank you! I might buy a smaller one from Petsmart if it's on sale. I don't mind the brushing it's just SO MUCH FUR.

Any size dog can be in the house.

I have a shepard mix that sheds heavily and a shih Tzu with high maintenance grooming needs. I share your pain!

Yeah, the hair would be horrible. I'm also an advocate of keeping big dogs outside, they seem much happier with room to roam. I know some people disagree, but he would be miserable inside, he has 3 acres plus to roam all day. I keep him in our indoor backporch at night, because of bears, and he kinda hates it.

I wish my dogs were allowed in the house. Never said it was bad, my mother wouldn't let them in the house because she believes that anything smaller than a cat shouldn't be inside. Guess I need to go sleep outside.

How old is she? Do you then take the old hair and leave it out for the birds to use for nesting material?

I actually am saving it so I have enough to needle felt a puppy version of her, so I have something of her after she has passed. What I don't pick up usually blows around and the birds pick it up. Or my dog Ruth tries to eat the hair so I have to keep her away from it.

Forgot the age XD Naomi is about ten or eleven. I've had her since fourht or fifth grade in elementary school and I graduate from high school tomorrow at 18 so she's pretty old. I've had her since she was a small puppy.

We got a furminator super cheap off of amazon for our lab, she sheds like crazy. When we are done brushing her it looks like it snowed all over the backyard.

I got mine on Amazon as well. With my two labs I need it...

After a light brushing... "Wasn't me!"

Oh wow! I have a pretty good brush but it isn't long enough to get down into Naomi's fur. I will order one when I can :)

With my labs they don't have the chow or shepherd "look" of shedding because it's mainly their undercoat blowing and you can't see it past the top coat. But it shows up everywhere they go. Your dog would probably enjoy getting all of it out for warmer summer months.
