Built-in hide or log hide?

My 4'x2' enclosure has a built in hide that is 1'x2' and the light from her lighting doesn't light it inside at all. I always have to wake her up. So I think she doesn't see the light and doesn't know that there is a cycle taking place. So should I take out the wall creating the hide and just put a log/pot hide in?

I would just keep it. Even if they don't see the light they will know when it's day. What are the temps? Mine have a dark hide and they come out every morning. Try feeding him in the am so it knows about what time to look for food
