buying tortoise

I really want a tortoise but I haven't found any for sell in India where I live and have no idea where to find one I was thinking of buying one when I go back to America and then maybe taking it back here if I decide to go back here at all.

Most airlines will not allow you to travel with a reptile on board.

Also, there is a lot of paper work and permitting necessary to ship a tortoise internationally.

Better to find a breeder in India.

I think there are pretty strict quarantine laws. Even after the paperwork, the tortoise would have to live in quarantine for a long time before you could have it back. I agree with Tom. We have many members in India who buy their tortoises there.
