I was driving today and I found some cactus out in nature! For the first time I fed my Wilma and Danny some bites! Because I didn't know I pealed it and I removed as much the best that little spikes! I have fed them sometimes aloe vera too! Is cactus more nutritional from aloe? And how many times per month can I feed them cactus? Thank you all!

Opuntia pads are great addition to diet. I think two times a week is fine (especially if mixed with other greens). Aloe isn't as good as opuntia (but can be fed from time to time). All succulents may give "laxative effect" and opuntia too, so you will know if fed too much.

You can burn or remove large spikes, but smaller spikes (glochids) are known to be safe for tortoises, however I still carve them off :)

I feed it to all of mine twice a week all summer. I don[t remove the spines or glochids. I just cut pads into a bucket and then dump the bucket onto their food trays.
