Calcium block

So just another curious question….
I have had a calcium block in my tortoise enclosure for months that has not been touched. I come home and looks like it’s been gnawed on all day- can someone explain the sudden bursts and need for calcium? Like why do they never touch it and then suddenly eat half of it in a day?

lol yeah don’t worry totally normal, they’re in tune with when they need a calcium boost

The blocks or cuttle bone are meant just for that, for calcium cravings.
