Has anyone tried insulating a calf hutch (like dairy farmers use) for use as an insulated/heated hide? Commercially, insulation isn't made for them.

A dairy farmer went out of business near me. I be I could get a good deal on a calf hutch. I could cover the vent holes and door for the winter. I'm just wondering about how best to insulate it.

Depends how skilled you are. I’m guessing you are wanting to insulate & use for a Sulcata?

Calf sheds are plastic shells, no insulation. An area for a calf to stay out of the wind & rain.

You could grt one, line it with that hard pink insulation, followed by a layer of plywood. You could make it work. But i don’t think the roofs lift up, do they? . Sooooo, lots of work to make one work.

Id say it is probably easier to just make a nightbox from scratch.

ps - How much are they being sold for? One advantage, is that the shell provides you with a nice rectangular box to modify as you wish.
