So Ive had my Redfoot for almost 9 months now. Six month ago i purchased another Redfoot, after I learned they do well in groups. But the more I look at them the more i see their differences. After reading a couple threads on the differences between Redfoots and Yellowfoots I'm beginning to think the first tort i bought is not a Redfoot, its a Yellowfoot. But I'm no expert so I'll let the pros on this forum have at it. Also any other information such as sex, health, ect... That would be very appreciated.
This is Cuca the first one i bought!

Redfoot or Yellowfoot? Male or female?

Now this is my redfoot Moka, by the scales on the head Im pretty sure its a Redfoot.ImageUploadedByTortForum1368381248.753974.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1368381268.589736.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1368381283.527329.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1368381296.710237.jpg

This is their indoor home, the ambient temp stays at 80 they have a hot humid hide that stays at about 90 and a regular humid hide that stays at 80. The humidity never go below 75% ImageUploadedByTortForum1368381599.152874.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1368381612.487519.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1368381623.760409.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1368381635.239352.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1368381653.527107.jpg
And this is were they spend most of their day (supervised) ImageUploadedByTortForum1368381726.875828.jpg

Hi

I only see Redfoots, unless I am seriously missing something.

They are too young to sex

The two parallel scales on the top of her nose, and her shy attitude made me think she was a Yellowfoot. I have learned that color alone doesn't mean its a Redfoot, but I'm no expert so well see. I appreciate the responses so far.

They are for sure both redfoots, and everything you have posted about care seems to be spot on. You are doing a great job so far! :)

Yes, she has two scales on top of her nose, however, she has a lone scale in front of those two (on the tip of her nose), making her a redfoot.

Thank you guys and gals you all are the best! My torts thank ya'll as well the guy at the pet store set us up for death (coil bulb and all). But luckily as soon as I came home I found this forum and I was able to learn the real way to care for these guys. They seem very happy and seem to be growing healthy. But the credit has to go to all the great people on this forum! Once again thank you all, this forum should be a requirement for people who want to own tortoises!

Congratulations to you on your beautiful torts!!! I think they are very lucky to have found such a caring and devoted parent as you. Sounds like you will all be happy for a long time!

Thanks again for all the information! Just one more question, does any one know from what part of South America they'er from. Can you even tell, are there any characteristic that differentiates then from one another. For example the cherry head comes from Brazil, and can be identified by the bright head and smaller adult size.(Iam no expert so i could be wrong). I have also seen Granada Island Redfoots and they seem to have much darker shells then the ones I own. So come on guys just a little bit more help with identifying my torts. 🐢

Im trying to create a new topic to see if some of the members of the forum can help me identify what region my torts are from. But for some reason I can not upload photos on the new thread so please look at the pictures above and help me identify my babies 😄

I love my Torts 🐢🐢😄
