I found a little baby box turtle a little bigger than a quarter in my backyard today. Im so afraid that the birds will get him so i got a big foil pan, put dirt in it with a water bowl and put him in there. im keeping him inside. Is that okay?

Are you talking about from a legal perspective or from a "is this proper care" perspective?

If you are keeping him just for the night and plan on letting him go in a safer, yet close to where you found him area tomorrow. Then yes it is okay to keep him in the pan for the night. If you plan on keeping him for good, and housing him in a tin pan, well then no, for a couple reasons. Tin pan not a proper home, more importantly, you took him from the wild, and he needs to go back to the wild. I hope this helps and answers your question.:D

That changes everything. :)

How about building an enclosure covered with some type of fencing/ hardware cloth?

You can build a easy wooden enclosure with a metal screen or mesh or even netting, to keep predators from coming!
Very cheap and easy!

How come everyone but me is finding box turtles?????....some ppl have all the luck!!!...........If I were you..build an inside enclosure for now, a 10 or 20 gallon fish tank will work for now..put a few inches or moist dirt in there and set it up with a shallow water dish and a few plants....and something for heat...
