I may be taking in a new redfoot with some serious pyramiding in her shell. Is there a way to reduce the effects going forward, or simply make sure the new growth comes in properly? I have 2 others who are healthy and happy (waiting to get my younger one sexed before saying yes or no, because I know I already have one male)

Any idea how old it is? Generally speaking, pyramiding cannot be reversed. That said, with proper humidity the effects can be diminished over several years especially for younger torts that are still growing quickly.

I'm still waiting for the for sure answer to that question, but she is still pretty young.

Yeah, pyramiding, as Tim Carlisle said, is irreversible, but with good humidity and regular access to drinking water new growth should be fine and eventually the tortoise’s appearance will improve. I have an Indian Star tortoise which had a lot of pyramiding when I purchased it 11 years ago. I’ve given it regular access to water and its new growth is smooth.
