I actually asked you this question in the Food Inc. thread, but do not want to miss the answer to it so I'm posting it again. Do you just milk the goat and drink the milk as is or is there a process that you have to do to it before it's drinkable like with cows?
With both cows milk and goat milk, most small 'mini-farmers' prefer 'raw' milk. Straight from the cow\goat to the fridge.
When it comes to commercial milk, their is so much more room for mistakes and so much more on the line, that they don't take any risk and cook the milk (pasturize). But this kills a lot of the good stuff... But in a commercial operation, they really have no choice.
Also, with cows milk, they 'homogenize' it. But goat milk is natually homogenized.
Interesting I didn't know that. One of the reasons that I'm asking is also that my sister just moved into a new home and she actually has a mini farm behind her and they have a lot of goats and I was actually curious why they would have so many. I didn't think people killed goats for meat. I told her to go over there and ask them if they'd sell her so organic eggs. She hasn't done it yet.[/b]
I know different cultures eat goat and quite a bit of it in other countries around the world. It is actually the most eaten meat in the world we just don't do it here (usually). What is your culture?
