I've been trying, ever since Terry-o got Chewy, to get a good picture of Chewy's dad. The turtle is probably wild-caught and is very shy. Closes up tight if I touch him. So this a.m. he was actually out and about and I ran for the camera. This is as close as I dared to get to him and have him not close up. I hope you are able to recognize his beautiful buggy eyes!

Now I see where Chewy gets his looks from Yvonne. He's very nice looking. Chewy's eyes look just the same as his dads. :shy:

Oh wow! Yvonne, that is so funny. I sent the picture to Tim. He will love it. What a pretty boxie. Chewy looks just like his DAD with those eyes.

If he's a boy he will. During breeding season the males eyes get even redder.

No. He came to me from someone who had him a long time and had to find new homes for all his turtles and tortoises when he lost his house. The story didn't come with the turtle, sorry.

Dang.

I'm still musing over the (wasn't it TerryO's) box turtle that they had had for years that was 62 and then one spring didn't show up from its burrow....I just think it would be cool to have a pet that really stays with you for years and years. It's always so hard to say good-bye to beloved cats and dogs after their relatively short lives...Boris the fat and furry, stoic and loving diabetic cat is laying in front of my computer screen as I write this.

Yes..that was my old boxie, Frank. My Dad brought him home to me when I was a little girl. He lived in our yard up until two summers ago. He never came up from hibernating. He was well over sixty years, because he was full grown when I got him. My sister still lives in my parents home, and our kids, and now our grandkids, (just like we used to) waited every Spring for Frank to come up.
