Classic hidden tortoise!

Today, I went outside to bring Tywin back inside, since he has no outdoor heating. Normally, I cover his cage when he's out there, but since I was working from home today, 5 feet away from the balcony, I left the cover off.

Well, I went out there to look for him, and couldn't find him anywhere! So here I am, panicked, digging in the substrate, wondering if a super silent bird came to carry him away. It turns out, he dug his way under the lining from the bottom right corner under the top floor.

Look how smug he is! I am sure he knows what he did!

Yep, mine has done that in his winter cigs. I have a tarp down over the cement floor then substrate. He gas to go under the tarp, ugh. They are tricky little buggers.

Mine takes special delight in disappearing outside. He wiggles into a depression under leaf litter and becomes invisible.

Then he laughs while I search.
