My adult red foot Rex just started closing his left eye like its bothering him,
Onset is within the past hour;
I'm using a jungle mix cypress mix that I have never had problems with,
Any suggestions?

One eye closing is usually an irritant, you could try flushing it out and see what happens.

Giving you a bump. I would suggest the flushing also. Also look very close if possible, maybe magnifying glass and make sure you can't see something on it. Here goes the bump:D. Hope all is okay

He opens it while eating, I gave him a soak too just to see if he would help himself any, each time I go to flush it he hides :p

Have you put on a pair of old lady reading glasses and a magnify glass and peek to see if perhaps a piece of the substrate maybe splintered and stuck in an eyelid? And you can also soak him and have a dropper and fill it and then move slowly and gently flush the entire head not placing the dropper near the eye directly....good luck and let us know what comes of the treatment....YOU CAN DO IIIIIIT! !:D

Lol...yeah the moment I realized the old lady reading glasses are beneficial was when I was making fun of a friend of mine...he had a pair on the counter and I poked fun at him..then slipped them on to further poke fun and realized...oh crap, I can see better with them on...LOL....:D

They taught me well:D his eye is back 100% open:)
I put him back in his soak container, and gently irrigated his eye from top down 4x 2 minutes in between each and now it's clear and open:D
After a close inspection before hand he appeared to get some dirt all around on the outside and I would imagine the inside of his eye,
Thanks for the advice everyone :D now I know how to handle this situation should it happen again
