That is how I took it too. More of a descriptive nick-name than an "official" term.

Think if I remember correctly, they usually have bigger blotches of yellow on the face and come from northern area of South America. It is a fancy name for a red foot. But think a guy who had a pair said they are northerns or least closely related to northerns. I've seen some really nice looking reds tho.

I figured that it was so on the thread I said that I had never heard if it but it is probably just a nickname or refers to ones from a certain region. I will comment on that thread to bring it up to the top

"Clown Face" is a marketing term that was coined for farmed Venezuelan animals, and carried over to Colombian animals since they are very similar. Most have red/orange/ or reddish heads at the 4-8 inch range. 98% will loose the majority of the red by the time they hit 10".

Unfortunately, the term has been applied to every type of Redfoot under the sun. Personally, I find the term ridiculous and advertise them for what they are - Venezuelan Redfoots.

On another note, Venezuelans are not a "dwarf" or a smaller race of Redfoot. They will get the typical size of a Northern, anywhere between 10-14".

Thank you for the clarification. Very nice to know most of the time it is the marketing term.
