Hello! I use a 100% pure coconut coir bedding. After reading quite a few threads, o realized his bedding isn't deep enough. What can I mix my bedding with? I may end up adding more coconut coir (I have 21 liters that I'm not using) any advice? I don't want to introduce mites or insects into his enclosure, he is really afraid of bugs. I also need tips on how to maintain humidity. Simeon is a Russian tortoise. Thanks

Just top it up with more coir. It's fine. Remember to add water so you it's damp to help with the humidity,

You don't have to worry about mites, but there are insects in your environment that will colonize any substrate. They are harmless detrivores and you don't need to worry about them.

If you really don't want these bugs then you will need to boil, bake or replace your substrate every couple of weeks.
