Lyn, have you ever tried the extension poles with a saw on the end? You can cut the small branches while standing on the ground. The only drawback is it is tough on the shoulders and upper body.
I have looked at them but I think it would send leaves over the fence into my neighbours garden and while they moan about my small evergreen tree, they also moan about leaves in their garden (or 'sh*t from next door' as they politely call them - whether they come from my plants or not). So probably easier to get up there and do it gently. I'm damned if I don't prune it and damned if I do. I have a long reach pruner - up about 10 feet - but that's quite heavy too. I like to keep it just high enough to give me some privacy when I'm in the garden or I have the teenager and her friends sat in the window overlooking my garden watching me and making comments. My nephew has offered to come and help so he should be able to do it easily.

I can't believe it's July 21st and I still have to listen to fireworks. They're from my stupid neighbors down the street. Fireworks are legal here on certain holidays but not every day of the week. I guess they can't read.
They are a nuisance when they're used like that and must be a nightmare for nervous animals - as well as a fire hazard in dry conditions. I suppose its difficult to police unless someone is able to report the address where they are.

Hello Lyn - are you aware that The Who are on BBC2 tomorrow night (sunday) from 10pm onwards - 3 programmes? We shall probably record the lot, so if you miss it, I could send you a dvd later.
I do agree with you about Roger Daltrey's hair.

The Grateful Dead aren't to everyone's liking, but Jerry Garcia was an extremely brilliant gutarist, and I can still hear their music echoing in my brain even now.
Angie
Thanks Angie - I thought it was tonight (Saturday) I'll double check.

Good morning all and Happy Saturday from a very soggy Wales. At lease I have plenty to keep me occupied in the house.
I've been sorting out some old clothes this week and while checking pockets in some old jackets I found £35 in old notes and coins that aren't legal tender anymore, but my bank let me pay them in to my account anyway, so it's not gone to waste. I'll be making sure I check all the other pockets too - I might be a millionaire!
Lola hasn't attempted to go out this morning - his internal barometer is obviously working well. He's had his breakfast and gone back to bed - I'd quite like to do that myself but too much to do, and parcels to wait for.
Have a good day.

Damn you do have a neighbor from hell.
When I was going through that problem with my neighbor. Her dog was crapping right up close to my fence. She would never pick it up and if the wind was blowing in the right direction. The stench was bad on our porch. Well when Opo scared her dog the dog wouldn't come in her backyard. So she started taking her dog in the front yard. Well her dog was coming over and crapping in our yard right by the culvert. She wasn't picking it up so Rose started picking it up and throwing it back in her yard. My neighbor must of have seen that on her security camera. Now she comes out with a glove and bag.
Wish I lived near you, I would make your neighbors miserable. 🤣

You are just the sort of chap anyone would welcome as a neighbour -we certainly would.!! If I started telling you about our neighbours, I could go on for ages, so all I will say is that they sold some land beside our house to have two very large and fancy houses built - it took 2 years to finish them - we live right on the edge of a small village-and then they persuaded the council to let them build a large dog kennels, then a cattery and now a pet crematorium -all in the field adjacent to our garden !!! And on the few occasions we have had contact with the family, they have been really sneery and rude. We are reluctant to move ourselves, as it would be such a major upheaval, and we are both getting older - I just hope they won't think of any other bright ideas to make money.

I know where it's coming from but I don't feel like dealing with the controversy of reporting it. It's a few houses from the fire department and even they don't do anything about it. I just shut my windows and turn up the music. My problem is I like to have a window open so there's airflow in my house. And don't get me started on people that are so rude and stupid with their animals. If they let their cats run the neighborhood, how can they possibly think the poor cat isn't going to dig in someone's flower bed and stink up other people's homes. I guess they save on cat litter though. 🤔 Not to even mention people walking their dogs around to do their business in other people's yards. Not thinking to bring a poop bag with them.🤬

The best neighbors are the ones you have small talk with....that's it, no other contact. I ignore bad neighbors, but I can rev my motorcycles if they get unruly so other than one guy getting froggy last year, I haven't had issues.

I got home about an hour ago but it was Eagle and Fawn day yesterday at the Nook. I had taken my subnados over but forgot the handy waterproof caps so we didn't go up to the park to swim. We went for a walk in the morning and saw one Bald Eagle and THREE fawns crossing the road, then we tossed the canoe in the truck and went out for a couple of hours, saw two more Bald Eagles and the crop duster was working which is always cool to watch, then we took the canoe out and folded up the ebikes and took them up to Kent Island and rode the 4-5 mile bike path to the end & back, and saw another Eagle up there and we spooked a fawn complete with spots when we came around one corner a bit fast!!

I had stopped on an active drawbridge to take pics, then realized and moved and as SOON as we moved, the bells went off, the bridge was opening! Yikes! The Bridgetender had to be laughing too! (those bells are loud standing next to them!

It's almost the end of July and the temperature went down to 59°f overnight. I couldn't believe it dropped that low after how high it was during the daytime today. We aren't getting the heat like others members here are. My heart goes out to you and I'm not praying to get a more normal summer. This has been a very cool summer and slow to start here. Maybe we'll have a late fall too, with a late Indian Summer.

We had the most beautiful w/e here that we've had all summer I think! We also had some real sucky weeks and we had the smoke so this was really nice.

I switched breathing med, big difference, I FEEL like doing more...funny how that breathing thing works. Kerry can go longer than me, much longer. While I collapsed "recharged superman" Sat afternoon when we got back from Kent island from walking, canoeing and riding bikes, she mowed her yard with the push mower. God I love that woman! LOL

I had my phone out when that bridge thing happened...https://youtube.com/shorts/YarHIxzdWF0?feature=share
I posted it yesterday to send to Kerry

Saw a little Bambi face looking at me right before I got to the office. "Deer Mama's" deposit them along the highway, usually in the same spots over and over so over the past few years, I've seen a bunch in 3 or 4 spots on my drive.

I took Kerry to my Chiro appnt yesterday. Guys, don't ever do that! She had him doing stuff he never did....I'm still not sure I'm "right". "He gets pain there and there and there and there.." She also came to my office earlier w/pickemup truck to get a few sheets of 3/4 & 5/8 plywood, new! When I bid the Target complex, I included 65 sheets to cover various holes on the roof and indoor trenches. 20 sheets remain unused. Nice shelving for my shed, and great price too! Turns out, the 5/8" is exactly what I need in my sunroom where the floor got damaged.

Backyard robot Hose A finally didn't work when I pressed the buttons.....3rd season. It says it can't sense the underground wire...and the wire system is fine. I will bring Hose B robot from the front yard just to mow the rear till I get to look at it. It will also verify the wire system is fine if he works.
I'm still waiting for a transformer for my sound bar and don't want too many open projects at once. I got the diagnostic code for the robot so I might delve into his calibrations but it sets distance from the wire via an amplitude setting so I don't want to mess around too much, just want to see if it "sees" the sensor, if it does, I need a 125buck front board. Yuck. Here's a question.....because I have two of these, do I swap parts to be sure what needs to be ordered, taking the chance that something could happen to render the good one broke too? Interesting conundrum.

Strange ups & downs with the temperatures here too. Cool overnight lows, some highs…high humidity then none 🤷‍♂️

We’ve gotten good use of our Red Neck pool. Today is day 8 and we’ve been in 7 times. Ive drained out some water & added in some pool chemicals to keep any strange bacteria from populating the pool.

Meanwhile our tomato patch continues to produce food for lunch.

That's one of my favorite lunches in the summer. Homegrown tomatoes on white bread. Just salt no mayo.

Robot's fine....just switched them and front robot couldn't sense the wire in the rear either. That means it's either power supply or the wire...both cheap! ,,,,yay jeff! I'll swap the power supplies when the front is complete doing the front side yard.

I had brought the rear robot inside to clean and check...glad I didn't open the electronics before I checked! This
thing is the size of a hassock!
