The washing machines in kitchens in the UK/western Europe seemed strange to me until I saw the washing machines in bathrooms in Eastern Europe, then the kitchen didnt seem so bad. They seem to be done with more care to the aesthetics when they're in the kitchen.
Some UK washing machines are installed in what's called a utility/ laundry room or even a garage or outbuilding. I bet older houses with cellars/ basements are used for laundry too - just depends on space available.
The house my nephew bought in LV has the washing machine installed on the first floor which seems very strange to us and a bit risky, because if that springs a leak it could mean a new ceiling in the room below.

Hello everyone, just thought I would stop in for a second. I have been doing ok. Dealing with life on life's terms. Can be a bit overwhelming at times.
Rose and I are in our first night at a hotel. We are headed to Michigan, to see my sons and grandchildren. Plus fishing in a salmon tournament with one of my sons and 2 granddaughters.
Hope everyone is doing ok. I will try to be around the CDR more often.
Hopefully pictures of some salmon also.
Hello I'm glad to see you and Rose are having a good trip. 😊 Hope you catch lots of salmon! Yum yum yum yum yum yum yum forget the prizes eat those suckers 😋

My garden temps reached 101f this afternoon. Needless to say I've not been out in it and I think it was even too hot for Lola. I just sat out in the dark to cool off, but my hedgehogs arrived so I had to come in and leave the garden to them.

So I've spent an afternoon watching tennis and then the Live Aid concert in it's entirety. It doesn't finish for another 3 hours. It certainly brings back memories.
It's incredible to think it's 40 years this weekend since that happened and what a fantastic day it was. I wish I could have been there. I didn't actually see all of it on the day and had to record it on my VHS recorder, because in the evening I was at a party on HMS Battleaxe - a Royal Navy frigate. It was adopted by the town of Newport and was docked there for a while.
I remember they did have it on one of their TVs but I was too busy socialising with the sailors. That was a good night too from what I remembered of it. Sadly no dashing officer swept me off me feet, but I did come away with a sailors hat😄.
I hope your all having a good weekend.

It's been boiling here and I can't wait to go on holiday to Oxford and come back and find the noisy, drug-dealing neighbours gone. It's a shame about my washing machine but I remember caring for dad with severe Alzheimer's when the washing machine was playing up and that was difficult!!!!

It was hot here too Lyn. My back yard was 107 f. Even though there was a breeze it just blew hot humid air in your face. Joe painted a new picture 😉 this is his version of the wizard of Oz and Dorothy 😁 View attachment 392888
Fantastic art work. I like his version of Dorothy. Is Toto based on Mr Frey?

When I lived in Michigan. I fished for salmon often. My average for a summer of fishing. Was around 250 salmon. I have cooked salmon many different ways. The salmon we catch during the tournament. We always donate for the needy.

Enjoy yourself Ray I will be going to Oxford on the 25th July until the 3rd August for my music holiday. When I come back the flat should be quieter as the neighbours are moving out on the 1st August.

Natrah
Thanks Natrah, hope you enjoy your trip. Hopefully your neighbors will be gone.

It was several hot nice days in a row. The weather forecast was great for today. And....another unexpected storm happened. It destroyed the huge old tree that was so loved by my tortoises... I am thankful it didn't fall down on the house but went to the opposite side.

Dear Lyn,

No one swept me off my feet that day either. I get the impression that you're like myself and Jacky and it's just you and Lola.

PS: I am suffering from hay-fever and this used to affect dad's Alzheimer's.

Speaking of drug dealing. In Baltimore they had 27 or 28 drop because of overdose......in all the "news" articles there wasn't a single word said about who was dealing....when they all know. LOL

We drove over the Bay Bridge to see my son for his birthday and i saw this....

Sandy point state park....empty on a Saturday at noon. LOL...it USED to look very different. Wow, good times are upon us. Maybe now we won't need to make reservations to go to our own parks?

Neighbors....we are either blessed or cursed!

I am one of those who has been, compared to my lady friends in the UK, BLESSED!

It's tough to have good neighbors in the overly entitled world we all live in due to a lack of simple consideration for others. Home ownership helps but it's no game-changer these days. At least that's my take. I feel bad for you guys with sucky neighbors. I have a very low tolerance level for bad neighbors and am a huge proponent of fire-employed-correctly in those cases. Thankfully, I've never had to BBQ anyone's sleeping quarters! LOL

Hey Ray, I don't mean to sound mean or rude, you know that part but I get curious about some things and I have no filter that prevents me from asking.... in all honesty, how much time does it take you in the morning at the hotel to get ready to get into the van when you are traveling? Seems to me like you'd be good to go in normal time but maybe there's other stuff I don't know about. I get the impression that you'd enjoy going more places than you do now but given that our next door neighbors could be serial killers and we wouldn't know means that unless we ask, we really don't know. So, I'm asking? Other than drafting your wife to drive, is there some other difficulty? And Ray, just tell me to FO if this is too personal or upsetting.
