3.5 hours of daylight? My friends, we would be able to count in days how long I would last before offing myself! LOL

I see a lot of folks stressing over the accumulation of money and I just don't. It's hard to say that w/ sounding like a preeminent azzho but that's not where it comes from in me.

Money stress;

I am not rich or wealthy at all. I'm sure quite a few folks here made a ton more money than I did over my life. I'm happy for them. I've watched people get more angry about money than anything else my entire life. Even more than love or sex which I find kinda sad. Their priorities seem skewed.

Many folks will screw over anyone to gain wealth while others will use it as leverage. I once asked a boss for a raise in the 1970's when I first started working. He didn't give it to me but I saw the power he got from that interaction and I NEVER asked anyone for a raise ever again. If I didn't feel I was paid fairly, I quit and simply took a different job. Two reasons....its always easier to get a new job to pay you more then it is to play tug of war over your compensation package with your current employer and no one was ever going to own me or to wave a handful of dollars over my head to get me to jump. I have way too much pride for that.

The other thing that I think is important to be free of money woes is to be happy. You might live week to week as I did for decades but be happy with who you are(you should be, you alone made you, you) and be happy with the people around you. That means living somewhere where you can walk down the street at any hour, somewhere that you enjoy living, not just surviving. When you aren't afraid of someone stealing your stuff you will find peace in unlocked doors. If you choose the place you live based on the ease to work, you are not living well. A work-centered life is not a wholesome or healthy lifestyle to me.

The last thing is to be able to be completely fulfilled by what you have and ditch the "conditioned responses" that tell you to want this or that. Remember that those folks only have your money as their agenda. Sure, there are things we like and it's fun to get excited over that thing but keep it in perspective...its not the last thing you will like nor will it really make you pretty, handsome, muscular, petite or cool and it won't make people like or love you.

That's the kind of thinking that sets you free from money worries. it doesn't take more poison-money.

BTW- the contracting crew just began demolition outside! Yay!!
I'm actually the same way about life. I just don't enjoy at all straightening up the mess from an online purchase gone bad. So losing a little money is really not what makes me mad. It's the lost time that money can't buy trying to straighten up THEIR mess. In the meantime my animals and Joe still need my help but I have to deal with the other first. Especially if it was for them. I'm just really glad though for you that your project is going along as planned. Your contractor is one of the good guys! That you can count on.😊

Don't be a consumerist!, I don't live in a fancy home, my bath towel has a couple of holes in it...would a fancy home like my brother's make me feel like I'm worth more or feel better about myself?, would new bath towel dry me off any better....NOPE, it's all in the perspective. Do my kids get taken to the Dr. once a year, YEP. Have I ever gone hungry, fortunately NOT. I paid off my home a year ago, just sent the payment for the property tax bill. I live within my means, when I retired I took a 40% pay cut. Am I happy, YEP. Do I wish I could sleep in, go on a vacation, You betcha! But it is the life I made for myself, it was easier when Penny was around, she helped out. But I have a life I made for myself...I'll continue until . . . I pop a cork (so to speak)
Same here.

Ok I guess we do have them but probably not in my state darn it.
It's ok, Aldi is better. Wider selections and much better fruits and vegetables.

Kerry volunteered today for school field trip. She's crashed out in her recliner...lol.
When she got home she freaked....apparently the chicken guts from the roaster she cooked the other day were in the trash and began stinking today. I didn't smell a thing as my sense of smell left in June.
Fast forward 3 hours to Jeff reconnecting the gas line and sprinkler pipe in the ground after the contractor left for the day. I connected the gas and turned it on and assumed any leak would be smelled while i reconnect the sprinkler pipe in the same trench as the gas line.
I go inside and Kerry asks "did you test the gas?"
"No" I answered "I did the gas first and figured I'd smell any leak while I did the sprinkler pipe, it's cool"

"But you can't smell!"

"Oh yeah, I forgot about that"

Just use a lighter. The leak won't be that big. So you don't have to worry about blowing yourself up. It is easier to see a little blue flame. Then using soap bubbles and trying to figure out if the gas made the bubbles or the bubbles are doing what bubbles do.

Yes it's getting pretty hopeless around here guys. Thank God our performance standards aren't that high.

I left the contractor alone yesterday but realized how bad our language barrier is when i looked out and saw that instead of his guys lifting the 6x6 post I had dug up but couldn't remove from the hole due to the concrete as I thought we both understood, the post was chainsawed just above the concrete sticking to it! Dang, that was one of Kerry's hammock posts.
LOL

Good afternoon everyone!

Someone spoke about scams earlier but I just to tell you that even before Alzheimer's dad had trouble pronouncing the word 'scam'. Therefore when the phone rang I would ask dad who was on the phone and in a loud voice he would reply 'scum'🤣.

I know exactly what you mean about the language barrier. Joe has an STNA that's from Ghana. Now I have 2 Joe's to try and communicate with. They get along fine 😁

That's hilarious MS Cathie! Lol

Today we are taking my son to lunch in Annapolis. He used to work summers at Carrols Creek Cafe 20 yrs ago so he wanted to go there.

Mr Contractor is flying....
Day 1

Day two

Very robust construction.

I ran men in the field so i pay attention to how crews work together. They are a quiet crew. No radios and no conversation and they produce great work!

The plywood on the floor is temporary while they frame it out. Then it goes on the roof.

Humberto told Kerry that they will build the screened deck before the big deck on the ground.

Get a good picture of the lay-on and how it is attached to the roof.
