Just wondering if cotyledons held any of the beneficial and/or harmful properties at such an early stage if eaten. My torts destroy any and all things green in their enclosure and never seem to let the poor seedlings get their first true sets of leaves.

Thanks in advance!

I couldn't find anything on the nutritional value of the first set of leaves that comes up from a seed. I would have to assume that if the plant is edible, the first set of leaves would be ok to eat too. Probably nutritious, and pretty easy to eat.

Thanks for the reply, Yvonne. From what I got out of an old post that Baoh replied to, I think they have some extra protein in it that's saved up from seed. I was just curious. Thanks again!
