Hi everyone. My family is making preparations to welcome a red footed tortoise into our family. We've built a table for him/her but I would love to see how you've configured your covered enclosures incorporating lighting. We'd prefer a flat cover and not any type of draping but Id love to see what others have done. Thank you for sharing!

If you provide a picture of your enclosure people could give specific suggestions or examples.

We aren't quite finished yet obviously. :) This is the general idea, we need to complete the walls among various other steps as well.

Sorry I also meant to ask the dimensions. And is that a ceramic heat source on the bracket?
I think it is. In my opinion it is way way too close to the wall and will probably end up starting it on fire. I would position it more over the hide so that they have a warm humid hide. Or at least put it farther away from the wall those things get really hot.

He has a second log hide underneith this ceramic heat emitter :) the plant pot hide is just another option for him.. it does not ever touch the wood so touch wood it should be fine. The top is made from the same white coated wood that the sides are.

Very nice enclosure. Mine is not all wood but this is what I have now. 50 gallon tub with 12 inch wood frame on top to give space for lights to hang inside. UVB and CHE Light hang in center. All covered with Plexiglas.

Wow that's bigger than I thought I have a peace of acrylic over mine now that seems to work in warm weather but giving me fits now that its cold out Heck of a time trying to keep temp where they should be. I'm building a larger wood enclosure next summer for Finn and this would work great . Thanks for the pictures.

If you have the space...its preatty cheap to build...cost me 40 bucks at the local hardware store...I use vunyl tiles to protect the bottom from moisture...the greenhouse is incredible...our rf was a lil lethargic...now shes out and about...its literally a lil amazon in there...got grass growing too and today getting her some more fake plants and aloe veras to plant as well..
