I'm honored and humbled that you would think I could answer your question. :p Actually, the link to the tortoise table takes you right to the page showing the crepe myrtle and it says they have no evidence that it is toxic (or not).

I have a crepe myrtle in my Aldabran tortoise pen, and I've never seen them sample the dark pink flowers that fall to the ground. This leads me to believe that at one time they DID sample one and it wasn't tasty to them. I wouldn't pick the leaves and include it in a mixture of other food, but if leaves fall naturally into the tortoise yard, I don't think it would be harmful.

If they eat it go for it. It shows not toxic. I use these trees all the time in enclosures. They are very drought tolerant and provide good shade. I have never seen any interest from the tortoises in them. Fallen leaves or flowers. Just a sniff and they move along.

Lol.. poor guy. Hey, I'm just going by the spelling that gets picked up on search engines and, you know, those labels that are hung on trees at the nursery. Po-tay-toe, po-tah-toe!

No.. YOU'RE awesome. I've never been blessed with a picture of a thumb's up before lol.. And Dana, I believe you might be right with the regional thing. It looks like crepe/crape can be used interchangeably. At least we gave Mike a good headache with it :D
