Curdy sick or dead

I have a tortoise curdy. I’ve had her since 1992 and today I took her outside as usual. When I went to bring her in her shell was totally closed shut. No movement. I put her under lamp still nothing. Help

if you poke her eye gently or tug on her leg, does she react?

I can’t the shell is closed.I am afraid to break it.

You don't need to worry about breaking it, they have strong legs. Post a pick and maybe we can see or gain some new info.

What species is this? When you say the shell is closed, I’m imagining a box turtle.

Edit- just saw the pic, definitely a box turtle. @Yvonne has more experience with this.

I sometimes give her small mealworms. She loves them.I hope she wakes up. If I try to force open shell can it break?

They’re no such thing as a desert tortoise box. It may be a desert box turtle, but I am not at confident in my identifying abilities and don’t know how to tell the different species apart. I really hope she perks up for you soon.

It looks like an Ornate box turtle.

It is a desert box turtle. Just set her in a little bit of water and let her relax. Something outside probably scared her and she's all closed up to protect herself.
