Friend needs advice ....

Just out of curiosity, I know sexing a tortoise is difficult until at least 3 years onwards.

However, should two Hermanns be housed together;

(1) at what age might Hermanns get sexually active to know whether there may be male/female together
(2) at what age may they start fighting if two males together

I know in either case they would need separating

There is no set age or size. Sometimes bullying can be very subtle and go unnoticed until the one being bullied gets sick or worse. Putting more then two together is safer. However, if you go with two, watch for every little sign. For example, one tort sitting on the food so the other can't eat. Or the one being bullied, always sleeping, in a corner, trying to hide and not acting normal.
