I’m looking at taro, Colocasia esculenta—the stems, not the corms. There aren’t too many posts on it. I can see a general sense that it’s okay with redfoots but not other types of tortoise. Any concrete reason or newer thinking?

I’m asking @Iochroma right in, as I don’t know anything about this plant family

Any of the colocasia or Alocasia is ok for rainforest type tortoises IN SMALL AMOUNTS!!! It is a mainstay in the Manouria tortoise diet, but should not be fed too often to other rainforest type tortoises. I can't remember, but I THINK the plant has too much oxalate for tortoises to eat it all the time.

Not even a mouthful for the dry land tortoises, I take it?

Too bad, it was so cheap at H Mart! :(
