Hi! Is cuttlebone okay for my DT? If so, is there a certain type/brand?
Welcome, Lydia.Cuttle bone is a very good thing, which you can leave in your tortoise's enclosure all the time. It is sold for birds with clips to fix it to the bars - just take the clip off and put it in loose. My tortoise ate it enthusiastically for a long time, then just lost interest, but I still leave it there for him. It is good to help keep his beak from getting too long. Also it gives him calcium.Hi! Is cuttlebone okay for my DT? If so, is there a certain type/brand?
Hello and welcome. Angie said it best. I get mine in bulk online. (I have a lot of torts...)Hi! Is cuttlebone okay for my DT? If so, is there a certain type/brand?
It nice you hear that you are doing this for your Grandfather, I was having a conversation with my 14yr. old Grandson just the other day about taking care of my Sulcata when I'm gone. He acted like he wasn't interested, until I told him that I'm leaving everything I have in a trust fund for Sammy. I hope one of my Grandchildren will take care of my Sammy and love him as much as I do. God Bless you for doing this for Grandfather.Thank you both very much. Just inherited him from my grandfather, so I fortunately already know a lot about caring for him --- but wasn't sure about cuttlebone. DT is about 10 years old. My grandfather may have given him cuttlebone in the past, but I don't remember. He is very healthy and my new obsession! We go way back but now I have a whole new perspective on him because now he is my responsibility. I think he misses my grandfather. I will get him some cuttlebone and see if he likes it! Thank you!
