Cuttlefish for calcium? Good or bad?

Good plenty of postings on this Forum and other care sheets that report on the benefits of providing cuttlefish bone in your tort's habitat for them to get their calcium allowances.

My tortoise eats the cuttlebone I placed a few days ago They are a good way for a tortoise to regulate its calcium intakes

I also put cuttlebones in my tortoises home & they will nip at or its nearly gone during a few hrs.

Every time I read post about cuttlefish, I always hope a little inside it is about owning living cuttlefish, and not their bones. But cuttlefish bone are a great source of calcium, the trouble is getting your torts to eat it.

Good. And if you notice him not eating it you can use it to scrape off onto the food. That way he gets the calcium he needs anyway.

If I don't supply cuttlebone my torts seek out small coral stones to eat. (The ground here is all coral rocks)

I have a fresh cuttle bone available all the time. In their outdoor pen I put a stake in the ground and screw the cuttle bone to it so they can bite at it without it scooting away from them or being in the dirt. Works well.

It never hurts to leave a cuttle bone in there.
