I have finally completed my African soft/flap-shell goals. A friend and I just picked up 9 of these from Mozambique. They're all in less than perfect shape but have all fed and are acting very strong. I have high hopes we will be able to fix them up. Hopefully one day we will see some hatching. Sorry about the crappy pics, I'm trying not to mess with them. Thanks!

Were these from underground reptiles? I saw their ad for them on king snake and thought that you would end up with them...
Coolest thing on king snake right now is the African Nile soft shells...

I was going to invest when I seen Claude advertising them, and I'm glad I didn't......At least not right now.......

Funny how the market can drop more than half when certain individuals get their hands on them......The other Cycloderma are fairly safe from this happening for the most part, and I think everyone involved in that is grateful.......

We are getting those four, too.

The miles are jacked up! There are going to be some nicer ones coming soon. I'm building a enclosure for them now.

So how long do you think it will be til you are successful at breeding? I guess its hard to give an estimate to that, just curious how well you think it will go.

And by the way, I wanna see updates on the aubryi :). I loved that lil guy.

There is no way to know! I'm not even thinking about that at all, only fixing them at this point. These, like the aubryi are "my" turtles. I want to breed them but would probably never get rid of any.

I don't see why they wouldn't breed, unless they're all one sex, then it won't work.

Haha...9 turtles, I would hope you won't have the sex problem :).

What is wrong with them that needs fixed? Are the below spots just fungus or some sort of coloration?

They came in in pretty fought shape but not the worst. It's very possible to end up with all girls because they catch them when they come on land to lay. It looks like there is a couple males but we will see. The rest of the group wen to one other person so hopefully we can do something if we need, too.

Ah, that seems logical. I guess they rarely venture onto land unless they do lay eggs...
How big do these guys get? Or are they adults?

Nothing makes me happier than seeing a previously stressed animal snap up some noms. I hope they thrive for you.
