Hello everyone!
I know I can find information looking through threads, but I still prefer to ask.
What is the difference between housing RF and Russians? I ask because I spotted the big RF that is kept in a very small fish tank. People are happy to get rid of him because they don't care of having him. But they are lazy to rehome him or whatever. They told me I could have him. It's a hug decision now....
Thank you all!

Redfoot needs a minimum of 10'x10' space as an adult. As well as higher humidity and temperatures.

An adult Russian needs 8'x6'

An adult RF needs a 6x20 size enclosure with high humidity, temps at 85 and they do not brumate
Russians can have a minimum of 4x8 lower humidity, temps ranging from 75-80 with basking of 95-100 and can be brumated or not.
Diet is very different too.

I have kept Sulcata and Russians, but I am only on my second Redfoot...Layla is my RF and she eats everything from blackberries to mushrooms. Every kind of fruit imaginable...it's been eye opening to me because of my Sulcata type experience...Layla lives in a 6'x3' greenhouse tort table in the house and she has a large enclosure outside. RF live on the forest floor so they prefer it darker...in fact almost everything between Russians and RF are different...AND there is no way they can live together...

Redfoots are one of the most demanding for care.It is hard to say no to them though.

Also you can't or shouldn't let different species of tortoise live together. I'm sure you know this.
