Eve been feeding our hermanns bagged salad from the supermarket and were trying to ween the off it by feeding them veg and fruit but there not eating it. If they get hungry will they eat it when they want? I don't want them dying or starvation or anything? Shall we gradually take them of bagged salad instead of cutting it out straight away?

Well, depending upon what types of lettuces are in your bagged salad, I see nothing wrong with feeding that to them. You can also add to it. If you have a neighbor with a mulberry tree, some grape vines, those are great leaves to add to your salad. You can look for edible weeds to add to the salad. Here's a nice booklet for weeds:
