Do tortoises such as Greeks and Sulcatas benefit from indirect sunlight or should they be exposed to direct sunlight part of the day? I have read that they expose their rear ends to full sun until they have reached the body temp they like and then they begin to dig/hide in substrate to maintain it. Explain the difference and benefits?

They benefit from both, If they are outdoors they say being in the shade has more UVB then a bulb. UVB by the sun is more then a bulb and just them basking to heat up is enough for a day. Also UVB bounces so when they are in the shade they still get some. Being outdoors all together is great for tortoises. My tortoises always thrived outdoors and even grew bigger faster while staying smooth. Also they always had healthy appetites and seem to be more independent and more intone to their natural instinct.
