Ok guys, my paranoia has been growing recently about these abrasions on my Russian's shell. I've done a lot of googling, and I'm pretty worried that it might be the beginning of shell rot. I bought him at PetSmart, so at first I assumed it was old wounds from living in the wild. But now I'm not so sure. I really want to nip this in the bud as quickly as possible to prevent further damage to his shell in the future.

Thanks in advance!

I honestly would just call it wear, but it is a LITTLE (emphasis) suspicious. It looks slightly white and chalky. I would call it fungus if anything, not as serious as rot. If your worried, just buy some beta-dine idonine, dilute it 1:7 with water (7 parts water) and drip it over the possibly "affected" areas. Do this once a week if you feel the need. (Despite how everyone says "To much kills cell growth!", I've had major shell-fungus problems before...And this was my care regime. Once a week their entires shells are scrubbed with tooth-brushes and diluted iodine. It cleans them and prevents any bacteria from growing. Been doing this for two years now and no problems I can see.) Just keep an eye on it; if it begins to advance then there is obviously some form of problem...
What is the humidity? Perhaps it is just "dry-ness".

I think OP is referring to the irregular/roughness that is in the middle of each scute.

Where does one purchase beta dine iodine anyways?

I was referring to the "irregular roughness" on the 1st and 2nd costal scute on the right side. It looks like there MIGHT be something slightly chalky in some of the pictures, in these "irregularly rough" patches. But honestly, it could just be dead keratin chipping off. I really doubt its a problem, the beta dine is just a "preventative" if the OP feels there is a problem. Its very hard to tell from a picture like this.
Pharmacy stores. Wal-greens, CVS, take your pick. Publix might have it to :). On the internet. All good choices, hehe.

Goodness! Thanks, y'all. I feel a lot better now. The white patches are actually just water spots (the water source where I live is really limestone heavy). The humidity in his habitat ranges from 30 to 50 (I usually mist it back up to 50 when it gets down to 30). I also soak him once a week and he has a big bowl to bathe in when he feels like it, so I thought it seemed strange that he might be too dry. I'll keep an eye on him, and if the patches seem to grow or change, I'll take action.

And, mainey34, I took them with my iPhone! I thought they turned out alright too :)

I would increase the soakings anyways. Most here do daily soakings, or at least 3xweekly for adult torts. If his humidity is that low tho, he could be a little dry. Provide him a nice humid hide and maybe an extra misting each day.
