Dry shell?

Hey I was wondering if anyone has any tips for keeping a shell nice and healthy?
My 2 guys shells are starting to go abit dry

I've heard of people saying use oil but some people swear against it! Any ideas?

How are they being housed? Let's sort that out before we discuss shell stuff.

Are they in a "desert" sort of enclosure or an "African rainy season" sort of enclosure?

Yes please post pictures and describe in detail their habitats and temperature/humidity levels so the forum members can accurate access the situation. The more the better.
