My turtle has it huge :( how much would a vet normally charge for them to remove the abscess. right now it to the point where its really red and it looks like it going to erupt Any day this week. I want to take it to the vet but I doubt I can afford so much ;.( what should I do. I've had her for about 3 years and I don't want to see her die on me ;(

Need some advice asap! :/

They might want to just try antibiotics.... i injected the antibiotic into a worm and mine at it. but lancing it shouldn't cost too much. Just give your vet a call :)

Do you have a picture

I had a boxie an aural abscess. I had it lanced and the vet cleaned it out and I just needed to keep it clean and apply antibiotic ointment. It cost me $75.

A natural way to drain a cyst or abscess in humans is to moisten a square of bread (no crust) with milk and applying it to the abscess. The pus will go into the bread. Now, I realize it might be awkward on a wiggly turtle but it doesn't hurt to try until you can get to a vet.

If you call your vet and ask what his fee is to clean out an abscess then you'll know whether or not you can afford it. If you can't get the money from friends or family, I would clean it out myself. Now, you are probably not experienced enough to do this, but I would use a sterile needle, pierce the abscess, let it drain, and apply antibiotic ointment. I would clean it out everyday and apply ointment everyday until it clears. The concern I have though is that the abscess is already red and infected. I would want to get some antibiotics internal until it gets better to work with. You can speak to your vet and see if you can work out some arrangement for payment, or at the very least, an opinion with no treatment. That shouldn't cost too much at all.

A needle won't drain it. The vet doesn't have to be a reptile vet. It's an easy procedure.
