earth worms

hey guys i was just wondering can a tortoise eat earth worms as a treat every now and then?

Of course! They are the number on favorite treat at my house, actually the worm for some of the tortoises, are a significant percent of their diet even. You'll have to see if your tortoise will even have any interest in one. I am betting it's not going to be a hit with him.

My Hermanns have earthworms living in their indoor enclosure. The torts eat the worms whenever they encounter them. When the torts were younger and in a more humid enclosure they also ate a few slugs.

My redfoots love the occasional earthworm. They slurp them right up :)

All my torts love them. The hinges and box turtles actively forage for them in outside pens. This is not surprising as all mine are forest type torts. I don't know about chacos as they are more grassland but wouldn't surprise me if they wouldn't pass one up.

I don't think we keepers have any idea just how much our tortoise will eat, if they have a chance to. We try to convince ourselves that we know what they should and can eat, but in reality we actually know very little about these guys at this point.
