Earthworms in Substrate

Hello:

I have an odd question. I purchased earthworms raised for reptiles for another critter and he has decided that he is not eating these anymore. So I have almost a dozen good sized earthworms sitting in my fridge. Aside from letting them go in the yard, I was thinking of putting them in the substrate of my tortoise's enclosure. The worms would eat any dropped leaves or grass bits. When I change the substrate it gets dumped into a compost so the worms will not be harmed.

Any thoughts?

Thank you

I have several garden areas and planter boxes where I grow food for my tortoises. I would just put them directly there and skip the indoor enclosure and compost heap.

What type of worms? What type of substrate do you use?

Your tortoise may decide to eat them, and depending on what type of tort you have, they could be harmful. Plus they may start to stink, (poopies) and I don't think it would be good to have worms living in an 80' enviroment as ( if your substrate is shallow) they could die, and sit in there for a while.
